MEL GWINNETT: "ANOTHER BIG TEST"

MEL GWINNETT: "ANOTHER BIG TEST"

Hampton & Richmond Manager Mel Gwinnett has his sights set on tonight's home game against Eastbourne Borough, as the Beavers look to make it four unbeaten and three wins from four.

With just 12 games remaining, and the TW12 side well in the mix for the play-offs, every game begins to take on a new level of importance. No one is more aware of that than Mel Gwinnett, who expects Eastbourne to be well up for their relegation fight. "Similarly to what I said when we faced Havant, this is a team who will be so frustrated with where they find themselves." He said. "Most people will look at this as a game that we 'should' win, and whilst that's obviously our goal, Eastbourne are a wounded animal with their backs against the wall, and that makes them very dangerous."

"Being a full-time side now, they'll be even more determined to avoid the drop, which is still very much a possibility. As we learned last year, things can change very quickly at the bottom of the table with a good result. It's another big test for us and we simply have to focus on doing our jobs correctly. If we do that, then positive results will follow."

"Obviously they played on the weekend away at Tonbridge, whilst our game at St Albans was unfortunately called off late in the day. The good news is It means that it gives some more of our injured players time to return for us with some huge games ahead." Mel continued. "It's difficult to learn too much from that game, both teams comfortable playing on 3G surfaces, that will assist us on grass, but again this is our home and we know it better than anybody. Of course we also have the wonderful fans on our side!"
