MATCH PREVIEW: EASTBOURNE BOROUGH (H)

MATCH PREVIEW: EASTBOURNE BOROUGH (H)

Hampton & Richmond look to continue their improved recent run of form when they host Eastbourne Borough at Beveree on Tuesday night.

Where They Stand

The Beavers have now gone three league games undefeated, picking up wins home and away either side of a draw with Farnborough. Those seven points have kept Hampton & Richmond in touch with the play-off pack, level on points with fifth and sixth placed Bath and St Albans on 57.

Eastbourne, meanwhile, have quietly begun to climb the relegation places, with two wins in their last five. Having changed managers a couple of months ago, with Adam Murray taking the reigns from Mark Beard. Borough stand seven points from safety but with a game in hand on Dartford and Welling in 19th and 20th respectively.

Last Time Out

The last time the two sides faced off was at the very beginning of the campaign on Matchday one. A crowd of 1950 at Priory Lane saw Eastbourne pick up a 1-0 victory over the Beavers, as Mel Gwinnett's side failed to grab a late equaliser on a rainy August afternoon. It's safe to say that that result was a poor predictor for how both sides' seasons would pan out.

The last time we faced them at home, we saw Mel pick up his first win as Hampton & Richmond boss, as the Beavers scored three goals through Alfy Whittingham, Dean Inman and Connor Kurran-Browne to end a long winless run. Victory that day in February 2023 marked a key turning point in Hampton & Richmond's season as they went on to win 9 of their last 13 to ensure their safety in the division.

Fixture History

Hampton & Richmond and Eastbourne Borough have faced off on 18 occasions since 2007, the most notable being a National League South play-off final, which tonight's visitors won 2-0 back in 2008. Our biggest win came in 2021, when we put five past Eastbourne at Priory Lane. The current goal tally sees us neck and neck, both teams scoring 25.
