Comfortable anywhere down the left, the Scot was born in North Berwick, and represented Scottish Universities whilst studying Economics at Abertay University, before going on to sign for local side Bonnyrigg Rose. A move to Stenhousemuir followed where Donaldson earned promotion to SPFL League One. Ruaridh then signed for Hampton & Richmond in the summer of 2019 – turning out 33 times in his debut season. With a keen eye in front of goal, he ended the season as the Beavers' top scorer in both 2021/22 and 2022/23.
