Taunton Take Point At The Bev

Taunton Take Point At The Bev

Hampton and Richmond remained 6th in the league after a 1-1 draw at home to Taunton, who themselves desperately needed a win in their fight against relegation.

As expected, Hampton & Richmond started off on the front foot, with a couple of early chances lacking precision with the final ball. However, in the 12th minute the ball was swung in from the left onto the head of Ben Seymour, who guided the ball past Lavercombe in goal to give the Beavers the lead.

But in spite of Hampton and Richmond’s dominance, a sudden flurry late into the first half by Taunton meant they drew level with the home side thanks to Callum Dolman who capitalised on a scrappy ball that fell to him at the edge of the box.

The second half started slow with neither side being able to take control of the game in the manner they would have liked, with Taunton in the ascendancy as the half went on.

After a near miss by Hampton and Richmond’s Donaldson, an outstanding run from Taunton’s substitute Day saw them go close as desperation from both sides started to show as they both seeked what would have been a crucial three points.

The final whistle came shortly after as Taunton look happy with the point, unlike Hampton and Richmond and their fans, who will have felt this was a winnable fixture as they continue their play-off push.
